The U.S. Geological Survey reports estimated 2024 tungsten mine production, in tungsten content, of 800 tonnes for Austria, 700 tonnes for Spain and 500 tonnes for Portugal, against a world total of 81,000 tonnes.
- assertion basis: SOURCE_REPORTED
- generality: DATASET_PROPERTY
- definition basis: Estimated mine production in tungsten content, as tabulated by the survey. Mine production is not refined output and not consumption.
- temporal basis: 2024 estimates as published in January 2025.
- assumption: A production figure is not a reserve, not a resource, and says nothing about the economics of any operation.

The Iberian Peninsula carries tungsten in two different minerals in two different deposit types, which a review of tungsten processing tabulates side by side. Los Santos in Spain appears among SKARN deposits, whose tungsten mineral is scheelite. Panasqueira in Portugal and San Fix in Spain appear among VEIN AND STOCKWORK deposits, whose tungsten mineral is wolframite. Since the same review states that scheelite's own properties force it onto a flotation route, one commodity in one peninsula does not imply one process.
- assertion basis: SOURCE_REPORTED
- generality: DATASET_PROPERTY
- definition basis: A deposit-type table compiled by the review from four earlier compilations it names, with its examples as printed.
- temporal basis: The table's production figures are for 2018, when it reports Mittersill at 980 tonnes and Panasqueira at 770 tonnes of tungsten.
- assumption: A deposit-type classification with a named mineral is not a description of any operation's actual plant, and no route may be attached to any of these deposits on the strength of this table.
