Cínovec greisenized granite, zinnwaldite-poor

Also known as GCW-1

The greisenized granite of the Cínovec–Zinnwald deposit, as sampled and characterised under the identifier GCW-1: quartz and feldspar dominant with zinnwaldite a smaller component, feldspar altered and partly replaced by clay minerals and carbonates. It is a DIFFERENT rock type from the greisen of the same deposit and the source that characterises both keeps them in separate tables. This corpus did not, until Phase 41 — its measurements had been folded into the greisen entity, which is how one rock's median grain size came to sit beside another rock's maximum.

What Lithoen records

Each claim states how it is known and cites its evidence.

EstablishedSample GCW-1, volumetric portions: feldspar 47 per cent, quartz 32 per cent, non-differentiated phases 11 per cent, zinnwaldite 10 per cent. Mean diameter d50,3: feldspar 4.67 mm, quartz 2.29 mm, zinnwaldite 1.32 mm, rock overall 3.44 mm. Zinnwaldite roughness degree 71 per cent. ISRM classification: high strength. Every figure belongs to this sample and to this rock type, and none of it describes the greisen.

Measured at this deposit

The Cínovec greisenized granite sampled as GCW-1 is dominated by quartz and feldspar with zinnwaldite a smaller component, its feldspar altered and partly replaced by clay minerals and carbonates, and it is classified as high strength rock. It is the zinnwaldite-POOR rock of the deposit and behaves oppositely to the zinnwaldite-rich greisen, which is the weakest sample the same study measured.
