Composite material

Aramid-fibre-reinforced polymer

Also known as AFRP

A polymer-matrix composite reinforced with aramid fibres, one of the four fibre types most used in fibre-reinforced polymers. Its fibre is tough and impact-resistant but weak in compression and absorbs moisture.

What Lithoen records

Each claim states how it is known and cites its evidence.

EstablishedAramid fibres in a polymer matrix.

Aramid-fibre-reinforced polymer combines aramid fibres, one of the four fibre types most widely used in fibre-reinforced polymers, with a polymer matrix; thermoplastics are among the matrices supplied with aramid fibre in moulding compounds and prepregs.

  • precision note: The sources read name thermoplastics as matrices for aramid fibre; no thermoset matrix for aramid is recorded here because none of them names one.

Evidence support: Supported by the cited evidence 2 sources, multiple sources, independence unknown
