Engineering material
Pyrolytic carbon
Also known as PyC
Carbon deposited from a hydrocarbon by thermal decomposition. It forms the matrix that chemical vapour infiltration deposits in carbon–carbon composites and is a common interphase coating on fibres in carbon and ceramic matrices.
