What Lithoen records

Each claim states how it is known and cites its evidence.

EstablishedContinuous profiles such as wind blade spars; thermoset and some thermoplastic matrices.

Pultrusion makes a wide range of continuous solid and hollow profiles, such as the constant-section spar of some wind blades; it has been used with thermoset matrices and, for natural fibre composites, with flax and polypropylene yarns.

EstablishedConstant cross-sections only; costly heated dies.

Pultrusion is limited to parts of constant or near-constant cross-section, and its heated dies can be costly.

EstablishedFibres pulled through a resin bath and a heated curing die.

In pultrusion, continuous fibres are pulled from a creel through a resin bath and then through a heated die in which the resin cures, producing a continuous profile that usually needs no finishing.
