Composite material

Glass-fibre-reinforced polymer

Also known as GFRP, glass fiber reinforced plastic

A polymer-matrix composite reinforced with glass fibres, in either a thermoset or a thermoplastic matrix. Glass is the lower-cost structural fibre, which is why it dominates large structures and consumer products.

Each claim states how it is known and cites its evidence.

EstablishedGlass fibres in a thermoset or thermoplastic polymer matrix.

Glass-fibre-reinforced polymer combines glass fibres with a polymer matrix, which may be a thermoset — the matrix most glass-fibre composites used in 2015 — or a thermoplastic supplied with glass fibre as moulding compounds, tapes and prepregs.
