What Lithoen records

Each claim states how it is known and cites its evidence.

EstablishedRubber-toughened epoxy film, stored cold, upper service temperature 121–177 °C.

Aerospace structural adhesives are generally supplied as thin films on release paper and stored refrigerated at −18 °C; rubber-toughened epoxy film adhesives are widely used in the aircraft industry, with an upper service temperature of 121–177 °C usually set by the degree of toughening, and the films are often supported by polyester, nylon or glass fibre scrims that help handling and control flow and bond-line thickness.

EstablishedPaste: room-temperature storage, hard-to-control bond line; foaming sheet: splices honeycomb.

Epoxy paste adhesives can be stored at room temperature with a long shelf life but make bond-line thickness hard to control; foaming adhesives are thin sheets of B-staged epoxy that expand as they cure at 250 °F or 350 °F, must be stored frozen, and are used to splice honeycomb core and to bond repair plugs into existing core.
